RPCL is proud to give back to communities around the 80MW Rusumo Power Plant by strengthening local health and safety capacities. RPCL has donated Mercedes-Benz IVECO firetrucks respectively to the Burundi Civil Protection under the Ministry of the Interior Ministry of Interior, Community Development and Public Security and Disaster Management and to the Fire and Rescue Force /Zimamoto under Tanzania Ministry of Home Affairs.
These firetrucks are equipped with specialized tools to support quick emergency response and serve as reliable platforms for fighting operations.
Rosenbauer Group conducted professional trainings to Burundian firefighters in Bujumbura from September 29 to October 3, 2025 and is now training Tanzanian firefighters in Ngara District from October 5 to 10, 2025.
The training focused on understanding the technical features of the Mercedes-Benz IVECO firetrucks and ensuring their safe and proper operation.
Some of the skills received include the presentation of functionality and main components such as the general structure and working principle of the N35 pump series, priming pump, foam proportioning system, screw down valves, pump drive sha and brake, water tank and suction line, chassis and superstructure, roller shutter, equipment.
On day one, the firefighters reviewed the safe and correct operation of the truck like fill of water tank, overflow valve, start / stop vehicle engine, engage and disengage water pump; the third day of training comprised monitor operation, water tank suction, external suction draft and pump connection, hydrant filling opera on, foam opera on Foam tank, foam opera on external, correct flushing after foam operation, correct drain and system blow out, pneumatic actuators and rotor drives, manual operation.
The last day of the training, they reviewed what included inspections through daily, weekly, monthly checks and basic maintenance and all functions and full truck operation.
An official handover ceremony to the respective beneficiaries will be held later this month. The firetruck designated for Rwanda is expected to arrive soon.
RPCL Corporate Social Responsibility is continuous action which intends to donate 6 ambulances to the local areas to contribute to the health and safety of communities in Buhumuza Province in Burundi, Kirehe and Ngoma Districts in Rwanda and Ngara District in Tanzania.
