RPCL is in its prime to contribute to the wellbeing of communities of member countries through enhancing health and safety, disaster management, firefighting in particular.

On 23/10/2025, RPCL officially donated a firetruck to the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force in Ngara District. The function was officiated by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Hon. Maduhu KAZI (Ph.D) and RPCL Managing Director, Eng. Ntare KARITANYI. The handover was hosted by the Ngara District Commissioner, Mhe Col Mathias KAHABI at the football pitch of Ngara District.
This truck is a Mercedes Benz ARCOS model with a value of Seven Hundred and Two Thousand and Four Hundred Euro. The truck is equipped with modern tools specialized in disaster management and firefighting. More than 10 Tanzanian personal firefighters were trained by Rosenbauer Group in Ngara from October 5- 10, 2025. The training focused on understanding the technical features of the Mercedes-Benz IVECO firetrucks and ensuring their safe and proper operation.
In his speech, Eng. Ntare KARITANYI stated that this donated vehicle is meant to significantly enhance the capabilities of the firefighting and emergency response, which is an indication of the strong relationship between RPCL and the Kagera Region and Ngara District in the framework of giving back to the localities surrounding the Rusumo 80MW Power Plant.
For us RPCL, we are always committed to contribute to the socio-economic benefits and the wellbeing of member countries through enhancing health safety, in disaster management, firefighting in this case in the areas near by the Rusumo but especially to the communities around the Power Plant, said Eng. Ntare KARITANYI.
Ghad KUBWIMANA, in charge RPCL of Corporate Social Responsibility announced RPCL commended all partners involved in the successful delivery of this firetruck. “We command the effort of the beneficiary office, the Fire and Rescue Force for their noble mission - to preserve life and property, promote public safety and respond to all calls for emergence assistance within communities by operating efficiently and in accordance with national policy guidelines and international standards”, he said.
A demonstration on the functionality of the truck was performed; a presentation of functionality and main components of the truck was showcased to ceremony’s invitees including the working principle of the N35 pump series, priming pump, foam proportioning system, screw down valves, pump drive sha and brake, water tank and suction line, chassis and superstructure, roller shutter as well as some equipment.
"This gift is a game-changer for our Office and our communities which will enable our firefighters to respond to emergencies with more reliable and efficient service to public safety. This will give our communities a greater sense of security” said Hon. Maduhu KAZI (Ph.D) during his speech of appreciation.
As a prominent, profit-oriented energy developer, RPCL prioritizes fulfilling its social responsibilities. Beyond this, RPCL supported the Local Area Development Program in health, education sectors among others in Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania. RPCL will soon donate ambulances to localities surrounding Rusumo 80MW power plant.
